The urge for more!!

Don’t you think we humans have all kinds of peculiar qualities??

One such quality is that we are never content with anything in life. We always crave for better!!  Everything better than the present is worth all the sacrifices…

A wonderful job, big bungalow, fancy car and a hell lot of money.. But there is always that insect inside us that wants more!!!  And you could very well justify it this way..

Need for change:  Oh yes!!  Who doesn’t like changes??  We hate eating the same food daily so how can we live a life time stagnant at a position. We set up huge goals and strive to reach them..

Comparing with others: Your friend has a fancy phone or a car.. Don’t you want to possess one or may be something more than that??  We always want to shine in the crowd right??

Social Influence : Our society too respects only the powerful and influential people. We love to please others and gain attention by doing something big.

Aren’t all these reasons enough to keep you away from being content..??

If your answer is yes and you still believe that they are worth all your sacrifices, then I must tell you, you have done quite well in screwing up your life by attaching your happiness and pleasure to your materialistic needs.

I know it’s hard to believe. You might think that being content is the end of everything. Competing is the only thing that inspires you to move forward, right??

But on a different note,  don’t you think changes also reflect of dissatisfaction towards our everyday life. By comparing ourselves with others, we turn a blind eye towards our positive aspects as well. And also doing something only to please others will never result in your true happiness.

Most of the times, it’s better to be content with whatever you have. Every bit of that “more”  you want may come at a huge price which we tend to overlook.

The secret of contentment is to have realistic goals. Achieving only those will keep us away from disappointment and regret. Sometimes, to achieve more we constrain ourselves. Instead, live the present moment and do whatever you want to do as an individual.

I totally agree with you..and I think you are not deviated from the content. I would just like to add one thing..those desires and opportunities must be realistic and not depending on what others think or aimed at pleasing them. In that way we will not regret anything or end up disappointed. In the end your satisfaction is what matters the most…☺☺

Yes.. We are never ideal and I don’t expect others to be so too.. But all I’m saying is by increasing our desires we enter a never ending cycle and increase the risk of disappointment. Instead managing them properly will lead to our happiness.

True… but we all have shades or layers of it. Some more than others. While it is the ideal thing to do or be… it’s easier said than done, don’t you think? We always want more. But yep gotto train our souls to accept what is and be content. Like they say ‘there is enough for a man’s need, but not enough for his greed.’

Right!! It’s a bit difficult in practice..
To be happy, me must accept things the way they are. Sometimes it the right thing to do. Whenever I try to settle for the content part, its worth it!!
