The Secret Admirer

So, this is my first short story that I put together for the blog.

Yet another lazy winter morning! It was the third time her mother called out. “Anne! Wake up. It’s time for school. You’re getting late”. She got up reluctantly and got dressed. She was doing her high school and today she was to give a presentation on nature. That was really exciting, for she was a great orator and also a nature lover.
At the end of the day, she picked up her bike and started on a return journey to home which was not very far. She began recollecting the happenings of the day. A great day indeed!  Her presentation was praised and also awarded as the best. She then came out of her thoughts and realized that she had reached the Maple tree.
As always, Anne put her bike aside and sat on the bench under the tree. She seemed lost and why not, she was trying to figure out the one behind the note she found yesterday.
The sun, the moon and the night sky are all eternal. So will be my love for you.
She ran her eyes all along the path decorated with shredded leaves in a hope to find that someone. But all she could see was Jim, her classmate sitting on another bench across the path. He smiled at her. She smiled back.
She then realized that she hadn’t cast a look on the pink envelope lying beside her. She instantly picked it up and read.
The sun rays embrace the earth,
The moonlight embraces the ocean,
The gentle breeze embraces the morning dew,
And all I wait for is the day I embrace you.
She had a quick glance full of curiosity throughout the path, but none except Jim again.
Another well spent day at school. It was that time of day when she loved spending under the Maple tree. Just then, she saw an old couple on the same bench she sits everyday. The woman had a bunch of papers which were looking old and brittle. She was trying to read out some lines and remind her husband about their younger years. May be he was suffering from Alzheimer, Anne thought. Then something extraordinary happened which she had not expected.
The woman read out some lines which were similar to those someone had written for her. She recollected that she was the most luckiest girl on earth to have him write such beautiful lines to woo her almost 60yrs back.
Anne was watching the couple from a distance as they cherished their sweet memories.
Anne felt elated. She smiled to herself and left.
